In my experience, many people who work in the car audio industry are passionate about music and sound, and enjoy tinkering with electronics. Some may start as hobbyists, installing and upgrading their own car audio systems, and eventually turn their passion into a career. Others may have a background in electrical engineering, acoustics, or audio technology, and choose to specialize in car audio.
Some people may choose to attend a technical school or community college to gain hands-on experience and earn certifications. Others may start out in entry-level positions, such as sales or installation assistants, and work their way up the ranks.
Professionals can work in a variety of roles, including installation, sales, and repair. Some may specialize in a certain type of car audio system, such as high-end or custom installations.
For me, I got into car audio through my love of music and cars. I was always interested in upgrading the audio system in my own vehicles, and eventually started helping out friends and family with their car audio systems. From there, I decided to pursue it as a career.
I started out working at a local car audio shop, where I learned the basics of installation and sales. I then went on to study electrical engineering and audio technology in college, which helped me to further hone my skills.
