A Decentralized Exchange works very differently from a traditional exchange because it doesn’t rely on a central authority to hold user funds or manage trades. Everything happens through blockchain smart contracts. Here’s a simple breakdown of how it functions:

Wallet-based access – Users connect their crypto wallet (like MetaMask or Trust Wallet). No account creation or KYC needed.

Smart contract automation – All trades are executed through blockchain smart contracts, removing the need for middlemen.

Peer-to-peer trading – Users trade directly with each other, wallet-to-wallet, instead of depositing funds into an exchange.

Liquidity pools – Instead of an order book, many DEXs use Automated Market Makers (AMMs). Users provide liquidity to pools (like ETH/USDT), and traders swap assets instantly using these pools.

Real-time swapping – A DEX lets users swap one token for another instantly based on pool liquidity and market pricing.

Full asset control – Users keep their private keys and funds at all times; nothing is stored on a centralized server.

Multi-chain support – Modern DEXs work across multiple blockchains like Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, and Polygon.

Transparent & secure transactions – Every action—trades, liquidity additions, withdrawals—is recorded on the blockchain and can be verified publicly.

Rewards for liquidity providers – Users who add crypto to liquidity pools earn a share of trading fees or rewards.

24/7 permissionless access – Anyone can trade anytime, without approvals or restrictions, as long as they have a wallet.

Continuous updates – DEX platforms are upgraded often to improve performance, security, and trading efficiency.
