One of the most impressive feats that has never been achieved in MLB is the quadruple play. This is where the defensive team makes four outs in a single play. Although triple plays are rare, quadruple plays are virtually non-existent, and there has never been one in MLB history.
The closest a team has come to a quadruple play was in 2015 when the Toronto Blue Jays turned a triple play against the Cincinnati Reds. However, the play wasn’t completed as the runner on first base was called safe after a replay review, and the Blue Jays only recorded three outs.
A quadruple play would require a unique set of circumstances, such as a bases-loaded situation with no outs, and all runners getting caught in a rundown. It would certainly be an incredible feat to witness and would go down in baseball history as one of the most remarkable plays ever made.
